Musical Direction
Leon Gray has been involved in scores of musical theatre, recital, concert and corporate hospitality functions. He has worked with a variety of groups, including Lunchbox Productions who brought the professional productions of The Sound of Music, Annie and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert to New Zealand, 2014-2016.
He has musically directed for a large number of organisations, including Auckland City Theatre Academy, Auckland Music Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Centrestage Orewa, Eastwood Entertainers, Rotorua Music Theatre and Tauranga Music Theatre. Out of the 30+ shows he has musically directed, highlights have included Evita, Beauty and The Beast, Jesus Christ Superstar, Oliver, Les Miserables, Into The Woods, The Sound of Music and The Producers. |
Leon is presently the musical director of the contemporary choir, Vocal Chords - a grouped formed as a workplace initiative in the healthcare sector in the Bay of Plenty. Formerly, Leon was the musical director for the Stratford Singers and the Taranaki Male Choir, and has been a guest conductor of Scholars Pro Musica and St. Peter's Chamber Series.
